Therapeutic Services
Individual Art Therapy, NDIS-funded sessions, Victims Services, Couples counselling & Family therapy.
All of our Therapeutic Arts and Counselling services are offered by registered Clinical Arts Therapists.
Our services are accessible to all ages, physical and intellectual abilities.
We offer private paid sessions and sessions funded through NDIS, Victims Services and DCJ. We also offer family work and couples counselling to the community. We believe that everyone exists in relation to others, and we find working with whole families or couples is an important part of working towards preferred ways of being in life.
Our professionally trained therapists excel in integrating the arts with various types of therapy, such as psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, group therapy, and rehabilitation therapy.
If you would like any further information on any of our offerings, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that utilises the creative process of making art to improve one's mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Through various artistic mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpting, or collage-making, individuals can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. At Happymess we also utilise many other psychological interventions to support you along your healing journey - we know that one box does not fit all and draw on a wide range of skills and knowledge to support you.

Art therapy can be used to address a wide range of issues, including stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and relationship problems. It is employed by professionally trained therapists to help clients gain insight, develop coping skills, and promote self-discovery and personal growth.
Some people find talk therapy extremely difficult to navigate, they may not be ready to speak to someone directly about very intimate details about their lives. For others (especially neuro-diverse individuals or those with a trauma background) art making can provide a stepping stone to being able to eventually speak about their internal world. For individuals with autism or sensory processing disorders, art-making can offer another language outside of that of verbal communication.
You do not need to be good at art to engage in art therapy - it's the creative process that supports a greater understanding of who we are and how we would like to be in the world. Art Therapy does not require any artistic skill or experience. In Art Therapy sessions, art making is used as a process to affect change and growth. People with little or no art experience often find Art Therapy freeing and insightful.

We get asked this a lot! Art Therapy does not require any artistic skill or experience. In Art Therapy sessions, art making is used as a process to affect change and growth. People with little or no art experience often find Art Therapy freeing and insightful. When you come and create with us, there is no judgment or interpretation on what you make - our therapists will support you through processes of meaning making where you can land in a space of greater knowing.
As our name suggests - there is joy to be had in the messy bits, we celebrate the freedom to explore materials with no desired outcome of how something should look. Life is sometimes a Happymess and we are here for it!
We are
NDIS-Funded
All Art Therapists employed at Happymess Studio are qualified and registered to work with NDIS clients.
One of the requirements of NDIS is that service providers have a Service Agreement with each person accessing their service. Please find our fillable Service Agreement below.
The Service Agreement is a description of what areas of your life you would like some support with. This will help Happymess to best customise a plan that will suit your needs and goals. Don't worry, there is no obligation to proceed if Art Therapy is not for you.
We pride ourselves in ensuring the best possible experience and outcome, the agreement is reviewed annually (or as the person joins the service). Annual NDIS reports can be requested by your support co-ordinator or plan manager. Please note that we require a 12-day turnaround for report writing.
Reports are charged at an hourly rate. NDIS reports provide an overview of the therapeutic sessions already undertaken and advise NDIS planners if ongoing funding is required. We prepare reports with confidentiality without disclosing intimate personal details. Reports outline specific details as to why Art Therapy best suits the client and their individual needs.
